Scientific Program
[Conference Schedule] [Poster Sessions] [Publication of Abstracts] [Submission of Abstracts]

The conference will begin each day with a plenary lecture which will introduce an important area of current interest in biological inorganic chemistry. This will be followed by three parallel lecture sessions in the morning and afternoon. Three organized poster sessions will end the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday conference schedules. The conference will be closed following a final plenary lecture on Friday afternoon. The official language of the conference will be English. Both overhead and 2" x 2" slide projector facilities will be available in each lecture room. Glass mounted slides should not be used. Please contact the organizers if other audio visual equipment is required.

Posters may be put up as early as 1:00 pm on July 11 and will be available for perusal during the following times: Sunday, 1-8pm, Monday through Thursday, 8 am-8 pm, and Friday, 8 am-12 noon. Posters must be taken down by 1:00 pm on Friday.

There's been a change in plans!

On Wednesday night, July 14, 7:30 pm-midnight, we will host a Mid-Conference Celebration at "Bravo!", an events center located in the heart of the Minneapolis theater district only 5 blocks from the Hyatt Conference Center. There will be assorted music performances, appetizers, desserts, and drinks in the multi-level "Bravo!" facility as we celebrate the half-way point of the conference. All participants and accompanying persons are welcome.

Poster Sessions

The organizers encourage all participants of ICBIC9 to present their current work in poster form. Posters may be mounted on boards provided in the exhibition hall of the Hyatt Regency Hotel beginning Sunday, July 11 at 1 pm. We anticipate that the posters will remain on display throughout the conference. On-site computers will be available to allow the titles and authors of the poster abstracts to be searched electronically so that attendees can efficiently locate posters of particular interest. Complete texts of the abstracts will also be available in electronic form at the conference. Three poster sessions are planned (see conference schedule) during which time the posters will be presented on a rotating basis. Refreshments will be served during the poster sessions. The poster space for each presentation will be 4 x 4 feet. Poster mounting supplies will be provided at the conference. Each poster should include a large legible title and copy of the poster abstract.

Publication of Abstracts

Abstracts of all Plenary Lecturers, Scientific Lecturers, and Posters will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry (Elsevier). This volume will be distributed to all participants at the registration desk upon their arrival. Additional copies of this volume can be purchased at the conference for $20.00 or by mail for $25.00 including shipping and handling costs. Follow this link for ordering instructions. The abstracts can also be viewed in electronic form by following this link approximately one (1) month prior to the start of the conference.

Submission of Abstracts

Meeting registration by the presenter is required before the poster abstract will be accepted. Each registrant may be the presenting author on only one abstract. Complete instructions for the preparation and the electronic submission of the abstract can be found by following the link below. Participants must consult this source before submitting the abstract. In general, the following procedures will be used. After electronic meeting registration via this WEB site is completed, a code will be returned that will be used to identify electronically submitted abstracts. Word processor templates for the abstract in "IBM" and Macintosh formats for Microsoft Word and WordPerfect will be available for downloading from a special Conference FTP site. Once completed, the poster abstract should be uploaded to the Conference FTP site using the registration code in the title of the uploaded file. The entire abstract must be included within a rectangle 7" wide x 4.5" high (17.8 x 11.4 cm). Font and spacing requirements must be strictly followed and will be provided, along with the downloadable templates, by following the link below. Figures are encouraged in the abstract so long as they do not exceed the space allowed. References and acknowledgments may also be included as space permits. For inclusion in the special issue of the Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, abstracts and payment for registration must be received by March 1, 1999. It is planned to use the title of the poster abstract as the source of key words for the searchable data and on-site during the meeting. It is important that authors compose titles that include appropriate key words which will allow their work to be located readily by other participants.
